The E2 Visa Process
The E2 visa process can appear overwhelming at first, but by
following the steps set out for you everything will be clear from the start.
Please follow all instruction sent to you carefully to ensure that everything
will go smoothly and that important information is not omitted. By taking this
process very seriously, you are showing your commitment to the school and to
Teach ESL Korea. We appreciate your diligence and are there at every step to
help out with any questions you may have.
The visa process can be divided into 2 separate steps, which have to be completed in specific order. You can’t move to step 2 without having completed the 1st one.
Here is a basic overview:
Step 1:
The E2 process starts as soon as you sign a contract with your chosen school. Once you have passed an interview with the school and have reviewed the contract, the school will expect you to sign it and send it to them along with all of your documents required to apply for your E2 visa. For a detailed list of documents and help with obtaining them, please select Step 1 under the E2 Visa Process Menu and select your applicable country.
After your school receives your documents, they will apply for your E2 visa confirmation number at the Korean Immigration Office. The time it takes to issue your visa confirmation number varies, depending on the volume of applications being processed at the given time. The average time is about 2 weeks. In the meantime, our Visa Representative will send you instructions to prepare you for the next step.
Please see our "Step 1" tab in the menu above for detailed information on the documents you are required to send once you accept a postion with a GEPIK school.
Step 2:
Our Visa Representative will send your E2 visa number to you as soon as we receive it. At this time, you will complete the E2 visa process at the nearest Korean Consulate. Processing the visa and getting your passport stamped can take anywhere between 5-7 business days, depending on the Korean Consulate. Some applicants may be required to travel to their Consulate in person, so please make sure you read the instructions we sent you carefully and be prepared for it. Detailed instructions for step 2 can be found here
ONLY after you complete these 2 steps, will you be able to fly to Korea and begin teaching legally.
