Tips to help your TR and Scott secure
you a GEPIK job
1) Organize everything 1
well-labeled email, with your "name, country, and date you expect to have
all doc's in hand by" as the subject of the email. This makes it even
easier to show some of our GEPIK schools your profile.
2) Option to Send Your Documents Before a Job is Confirmed
· Normally we don't ask teachers to send any documents before we have the jobs 100% confirmed, but right now we're having more calls than ever, from schools who are only concerned with ASAP teachers. This means the teacher starts as soon as their E2 visa is done. Schools often ask two questions of us: 1) Are the documents already in Korea?; and 2) When can the teacher start?
· Many recruiting companies will not start job-hunting for you until you send them your documents. We feel this approach is a bit harsh and impersonal. We think it is important to give you the choice. Please know we will hold your documents 100% safe, and you will be given full right to confirm or deny a school before we submit your documents to a school. If you change your mind, or find a job with someone else, we will forward your documents wherever you'd like at our expense.
· If this works for you, please let your Teacher Representative know, and s/he will introduce you to our Visa Rep (VR), who is our E2 Visa Representative for all teachers. They will provide you will full, detailed instructions on what to send, as well as for the rest of the E2 visa process (including flights).
What can you do to help the process run smoothly?
· Work quickly on your required E2 documents – especially your FBI or national level criminal check and 2-3 Letters of Reference
· Please try and be flexible to the various cities and areas of Gyeonggi-do province. These cities usually have between 500,000 to 1,200,000 people, deep foreigner communities, lots of western entertainment, Korean culture, close to mountains, while also being easy to get to other cities, or Seoul is extremely easy.
· Answer all calls on your phone, even the ones that come up as “unavailable”.
· Please reply to any email from your TR or SR within 12 hours.
· If you have a Skype account, please let your TR know your user name. Connect to Scott on Skype, id: telljay
· Please let your TR know the best phone number for you to be contacted at for job interviews (landlines are preferable wherever possible).
· Be open with your TR about any other jobs you are pursuing, both at home and abroad.
· If you are not interested in a job offer sent your way, please still make sure you reply to the email, to let your TR and SR know the reasons why. This way the school is not left waiting, and it also gives us more info to narrow down our job search.
· When you send your documents, please use a courier (with tracking number) ***Do NOT mail, not even air/priority mail! These are important, time sensitive documents. You will need to send the tracking number to your TR and SR along with the name of the courier company.
- 2 Letters of reference - 1 professional & 1 academic is best. Scanned is fine for this stage.
- Completed GEPIK application form
- Resume and cover letter, addressed to GEPIK if possible
- Clear update on when you ordered their FBI or country wide crc's for non-American applicants
- Current resume and picture - To make it easier for everyone, please also attach your most current resume, with accurate contact info, as well as a picture that is professional enough for you to show for an interview.
